It's that time of year! I love it when we start to see flowers popping up. Brooklyn is not quit there yet. I can feel it in my bones! It's right around the corner. I know it is. The weather is CRAZY! One day we just need a light cardigan, the next, it's full on down coats and hats. We are all getting colds and sore throats. Until we are in full bloom I have decided to make my own flowers. Daffodils are one of my favorite. I love making these every year. I once had dreams of making a mobil for by baby with felt flowers. Wouldn't that be sweet? She is at the age where she would try to eat it now. Oh well. Now someone else can make it. If anyone doess, send me a picture. Never mind. Please don't. I would probably just feel guilty. You can make them into hair clips using the first half of this brilliant tutorial. , a spring garland, attach them to easter baskets. Anything ya want people. Go crazy!
What you will need for this project
-100% wool felt (get the good stuff. It makes a big difference) in yellow, orange and white.
-embroidery thread in yellow, orange, and white
Place one on top of the other.
and make a few stitches to hold them together.
Roll it up into a cute little ball.
and stitch it together from the inside so that the knot doesn't show. (I use two stands of embroidery thread.)
This flower "center" will give the daffodil some dimension. Kinda like the real deal.
Flip the flower petals over and give it a little pinch (that sounded kinky:) and make a few stitches.
This will give the petals some dimension.
And last, you will sew the flower center on to the flower starting from the back so that your not will not show.
Here is my all time favorite wool felt supplier. The felt is soft and beautiful and the colors are amazing! She ships fast and her prices are some of the best I have seen around. Just make sure your leave some for me!
Purl also has some nice felt.
