We had a really nice, quiet, low key Christmas this year. We spent Christmas eve at home watching Christmas movies, baking cookies for Santa and Rudolph, Writing letters to them, and eating Christmas treats.
Here they are with Mrs Claus at Macys Santa Land. My little one wanted NOTHING to do with Santa, the elves, or any of them! He tried to engage her and she yelled at him "No! No! No!" and shoved his hand off her leg. He is a little strange when you think about it. I guess I can't blame her.
The two big girls were willing participants. What I loved most this year is that my older two did not get caught up in the latest "hot" toy on the market. My 6 year old asked for a guitar and my nine year old asked for a digital camera. They each got some books, art supplies, sparkly sneakers, Wii Games, and a few other things. This year we spent less than we have in a while and they didn't even seem to notice or care. It was refreshing.
We ended up ordering our Christmas tree online this year. When you live in NYC you end up paying about $120 for a 7 foot tree that has been standing on a street corner for a few weeks. This years tree came from a tree farm in New Hampshire. We paid $70 including shipping. I called the tree farm on Sunday, it was chopped down Monday morning, and it was in our living room on Wednesday. It was sooooooo incredibly fresh. Our whole house smelled divine. We will definitely do this again next year.
It started snowing the day after Christmas and didn't stop for two days! Brooklyn got slammed. Buses are stranded. Cars are stranded. You cannot push a stroller at all. Let's just say we are going a little stir crazy. Hope your enjoying your holiday.
I have been wondering how you were doing. It is great to see a post from you! Looks like you had a great Christmas. I hope your able to get out of doors soon!!
